The Western United Credit Union was born out of two (2) existing entities – Cocorite / St. James Credit Union and South-East Port of Spain Credit Union. They both bring to the table over sixty-five (65) years of Credit Union experience. The Societies amalgamated on January 12th 2004, has challenged themselves to provide sound financial advice and prudent management of their Members’ resources.

We are a financial co-operative owned and controlled by its members which simply means that you as a member have a say in how the Credit union operates.

As part owner you are entitled to full voting rights at the Annual General Meeting when electing Board and Committee Members. Each $10.00 in a share account represents one share of Credit union ownership. Some of our benefits include our low interest rates, various saving instruments and free financial counselling services.

The Board of Directors has the responsibility to ensure the safety and soundness of overall operations. Daily operations and services to members are the responsibility of the C.E.O. / General Manager who reports to the Board.

The Credit Committee administers the loan portfolio and the supervisory Committee monitors the conduct of the affairs of the Credit Union.
